Dear Pedal PA Supporter,
From all accounts the 2005 Southern Crossing Tour was an awesome
event. The tours accommodations, food, and support were the best
we have done yet. I will continue to look for ways to improve the
Pedal Pa experience. One of the things that I struggle with in selling
a cross-state tour is the concept of overnighting at colleges and
universities. The air-conditioned, apartment-style accommodations
are spacious and very comfortable and the staff at the schools have
been courteous and very accommodating. I believe when most people
think of college accomodations they think of the way it was when
they went to school. For our next cross-state tour we will be looking
into the possibility of adding camping as an option to help spell
your fears, and to show you colleges today. I also know that Pennsylvania
is a hilly state and that may keep some people away, but to appreciate
its real beauty you need to see it from a mountain top.
Organizing bicycle tours has been a great experience for me. You learn a lot about the geography and people of Pennsylvania by traveling through the state by bicycle. The cross-state and other multi-day tours that I have done have been fun and rewarding, but they also have had their drawbacks. The planning and production of a Pedal PA tour involves many hours of office work and many weeks of traveling. With my children, Kevin (10 years old) and Kimberly (6 years old), growing up fast I don't want to miss an opportunity to play with them in these special years. My shop, Bikeworks, has also experienced large growth over the last couple years and has become a full time job for me, so for now there will not be a cross-state ride. I plan to ride my bike more than I've done in the past few years and spend more time with my family.
Please stay in touch, subscribe
to our Email Newsletter , and look for the return of a cross
state tour in 2007.
Hope to see you out there on the road soon.
Sincerely,
Bill
