The riverside roads are smooth and mostly flat, and a pleasure to ride on. In the spring and summer it is cooler than surrounding areas. The following photos are from the Fall river ramble which affords brilliant fall colors.
Heading up 611 out of Easton on the way back to Yardley.
The road curves gently back towards the Delaware.
The canal path, which you can ride right out of Easton if you like. The section starting in Easton is packed dirt, but runs into sections like this one, which are paved and free of vehicular traffic.
The canal path was completely dressed in autumn colors and fallen leaves.
Here, the canal path is a study in yellows and greens.
Here the path retains a bit of it's summer green.
On the bike, heading for one of the many canal bridges.
A little known cave near Durham, a cool spot in summer and spring.
The cave goes back into the earth a fair distance, and is fun to explore.
There are some nice sights and eateries along the canal path.
Riding past the Golden Pheasant... I don't know what they were cooking, but it smelled good!
Along the canal path you can see many locks, this is lock 20. Many sections, such as this one are rideable on a road bike, and you can easily zip on and off the trail back onto the road.
The path is lined with many interesting homes and takes you over bridges at regular intervals.
The structure and design of the canal are also interesting to contemplate. These look like 55 tooth cranks...
A spillway, which looks to be in need of some maintenance.
The Uhlerstown covered bridge, where a nice section of paved canal path picks up from the road... highly recommended
Here is where you access the trail...
Washington Crossing State Park where the Christmas attack in 1776 turned the tide of the Revolutionary War.
